Tara, hailing from Pennsylvania, got into running 3 years ago after needing something to do after being a die-hard cigarette smoker for 25 years. She knew she wanted to be more healthy, and one night... she just started running. That sparked a passion that would carry her up to now, where she has completed numerous 5ks, a 10k, and a sprint triathlon. Her day job is being a therapist at a state institution for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues, and she has worked in the mental health field for the past 20 years. She loves her work and is equally as passionate about recovery, peer support, LGBTQ issues in mental health, and overall wellness. Fun fact: In 1993 she dressed up as Gene Simmons for Halloween.
